Bone Marrow Match 4 my Dad
My dad, Lee Wilson, has been battling CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia) for 12 years and has received various treatments ranging from his own stem cell replacement to various cocktails of chemotherapy. His warrior mentality and strength have not diminished, nor has his sense of humor.
This chronic disease has now advanced and a bone marrow replacement may be the only solution for him. The National Bone Marrow Donor Program, of which Ive been involved in since his initial diagnosis, will not donate to individuals over age 60. My dad is 68.
I am not the perfect match, nor are other siblings.
Our options are now focused to find a match without a history of cancer to be tested via a special kit.

3) Contents include the vial and packaging for mailing your blood sample that is taken at your physicians office. Most often, your HLA or typing, are not part of routine blood work or CBC work, however ifyou are due for a physical, what perfect timing!
4) Your investment to save a life, possibly $150. Based upon your insurance coverage, this test may or may not be covered.
5) You may want to attend a Red Cross Blood Drive or inquire when they have a Blood Drive pertaining to the National Bone Marrow Program. It is how I got into the system 12 years ago. I have yet to be contacted as a donor; although Id donate to an otherwise healthy individual over the age of 60!
6) Any questions; please contact Cecelia Wilson as she is well informed with Dr. Lister.
Cancer doesnt have an age restriction, unlike some resources.
Thank you for taking time from your life to invest in saving my dads.
